Membership Selection Process

- Membership will be limited to approximately 35 members to maintain the group at a workable size.
- Members will be selected for their demonstrated leadership and expertise and will include representatives from key stakeholder sectors identified as critical to the success of the planning process.
- These groups include, but are not limited to: the physician community, hospitals and health maintenance organizations, community clinics, local employers, local governments, labor organizations and consumer advocacy organizations.
- Membership will be configured to balance the interests of the community's diverse stakeholder groups and to reflect the county's geographic and ethnic diversity.
- Using these parameters, a planning group of Department of Health Services staff has assembled a list of potential members. Supervisor Smith, Rita Scardaci and Dr. Mary Maddux-Gonzalez are currently contacting these individuals to assess their interest. In the event that any of these individuals are unable to serve, alternates will be selected, using the same process.
- All members will be appointed by the Director of the Department of Health Services. Appointments will be finalized by October 1, 2007.
- Recognizing that many members of the community may be interested and will have valuable expertise and insight to contribute, Health Action will utilize an "open" task force structure. This structure will allow for broader participation by interested non-members.
- Individuals interested in task force participation are invited to contact Ellen Bauer, Program Manager, at ebauer@sonoma-county.org.
- Health Action and task force meetings will be open to the public.
